"deep thoughts" according to C.

e172

i often wonder if there are any other people out there who do some of the silly crazy OCD stuff i do, and why....

I'm talking about things i personally do like always smelling milk before i pour it... looking at the toilet paper after i wipe [don't say ewwww, you do it too i saw you].

how 'bout counting? i find myself counting ceiling tiles whilst waiting for the dr. to come in, counting anything i can sitting on the toilet when I'm constipated just to take my mind off things.. or having to read a magazine for distraction. [both work well for me]. i enjoy the sneaky feeling i get when i am talking on the phone and they don't know I'm on the toilet poopin... i find myself counting someone else's exercises in PT then losing tract of my own. i count how many chews i can get before all the sugar is gone in my gum. ya know, counting....

my mind is usually always hard at work. i can walk whilst singing a song and try to figure out exactly just what that is on the ground that looks "iffy" and at the same time scratch an itch whilst planning what to make for dinner and twirl a piece of my hair with my free hand.

does this mean i am multitaskable? [hah, i just invented that word... aren't you envious of my abilities].

does anyone out there ever wonder how strange looking people in the grocery store, live like? do you wonder if that cat food they are buying is really for a cat or for themselves? specially if they are old... and then do you invent a scenario as to what their home, if they have one, would look like and if it is clean, and do they bathe daily...

if it's an odd looking couple do you find yourself trying to picture them having sex and then throwing up in your mouth a little then having to force yourself to repeat lines from songs you hate in your mind just to erase what you now picture?

me neither.....

jus' asking.

when i shower i always do so in my routine way. if i slip up and wash one part before the one that should be washed next in my routine... i don't feel as clean. sometimes i start over. is that weird or do you do that too. it goes for cleaning, too. i have a routine for that as well and i best not vacuum before i dust or i will just give myself a consequence.

does anyone clip their nails in the living room whilst watching TV then blend the debris into the carpet with your foot cuz they show?

i hate that.

sometimes i stare at my naked feet stretched out in front of me whilst sitting in a chair and wonder how i know they are mine... cuz if i look long enough, they begin to resemble someone else's. then i try to picture them as my own little toddler's feet when i was little and that really freaks me out cuz i just cant imagine my parents nibbling on them.

when i hear the mail being dropped into my mailbox right outside my front door, i pause momentarily and try to capture the feeling of how i would feel if i were to find a large check made out to me by some unknown kind person randomly giving away cash. sometimes i can REALLY TRULY feel the excitement. then it turns out it was just gas.

don't you think we are each of us just a lil slanted in our own beautiful ways?

i do. and I'm so thankful to be human.

C, you are so funny, and freaky. :) Ok, when I get on a plane, I have to touch the outside of the plane twice. Kind of a pat to say, "Don't kill me, please." I'm sure I do other things too. I'll have to start paying attention to myself.

I'll look at a run of numbers (ex. digital clock that shows the time and the date) and figure out their association with each other and when the time changes, start all over again.

And the cat food eating elderly person? I saw that in person while running ambulance. Elderly woman cooking a can of dog food on the stove. So fckn sad!

Ok, first of all, who DOESN'T look at the toilet paper? How the hell do you know when you're done?!

The counting thing- OMFG! I thought I was the only weirdo who did that!! I do it a lot less now that I'm old, cuz quite frankly, I don't have that many brain cells left, so I have to use them wisely!

I ALWAYS wonder about the strange people I see at the store. I worked in the grocery business for 10+ year, so trust me, I could tell you stories!!

The odd looking couple having sex - sometimes the images haunt me...

I swear to God, I'm NOT kidding when I say I do the EXACT same thing in the shower. Everything has to be done in order or else!! Can't relate to the cleaning routine, though, cuz I just don't do it. Well, at least not unless it's absolutely necessary. I HATE HOUSECLEANING! My next husband is going to let me have a cleaning woman. That's going to be in the prenup! ;-)

OK, the toenail part made me gag!

I have this weird thing about keeping things "even" when I eat. And, holy shit, Stud does the exact same thing, but had no idea I did it. For example, if I'm eating, say, M&Ms, I have to eat them two at a time, one for each side of my mouth. Actually, it can be more than two, it just has to be an even number. And, they usually have to be the same color. I always try to chew my bites an equal number of times on each side of my mouth, or I'll switch sides with each bite. I know, I'm a kook! When I was a kid, I always seperated all my candy by colors, whether it was M&Ms, Smarties, whatever, and then ate one color at a time, two pieces at a time of course. Psycho!!!

That's all my weirdness I'm gonna share for one day. A girl's gotta have some secrets.... ;-)

cheech i do all of those things too! oh my god... i too separate my m n m's... and have to have 2 wintergreen lifesavers atta time or two of whast ever, one for each side...

i think we all have OCD to some extent... some of us just wont admit it!

jude, if i wake up in the night to pee i alays think its very special if the clock says it's 2:34, or 2:22, or 11:11 or 7:47... any popular comboinations of numbers makes me feel giggly like i woke up at a special time. once, for about 3 weeks straight i woke up at 3:00 am every single night and THAT freaked me out as i thought of all the scary movies i've seen where evil occurs at that time...

that's funny, J.

eww now i am creeped out...

I agree, I think we all have similar traits, just in our own personal ways.

I'd say yours and my quirks stem from a wild imagination. I am constantly wondering what people are up to and who they are. And I imagine "what if" scenarios - what if my car slides off this bridge right now...

Stuff like counting makes sense to me because our brains are wired to make sense of the world, and to organize that information. I love learning about how our brains work. My psychology class rocked.

I'm also thankful to be human. Fun post!

Jason, as himself said...

Ummm, are you still on pain meds?

But I seriously loved this post. So quirky!

I do a lot of this stuff, but not the counting one. Counting things sometimes makes me uptight.

I try very hard to pick up all of my toenail clippings and dispose of them in the proper receptacle. In fact, I won't cut my toenails in front of anyone, not even Giancarlo. It feels too personal.

Wow, you're one weird person! Just kidding, hun! ;-) This post is so funny.

I people watch, too, not just in groceries, everywhere whenever I get the chance. And I try to analyze if they're married or on the first date, are they happy, etc...

And when I was younger, I can't do a number two if it's a new place, so I couldn't go on long vacations because, of course, it won't be good for me. Now, I've learned to overcome it.

And to answer your question on my blog, I'm not very domesticated (my Mom spoiled me) but I can cook lumpia, too, and my husband loves it!

Whenever I walk up and down a flight of stairs, I count the steps. My stairway has 13 steps.
And yet i keep counting them..

We're all a little freaky, aren't we??

Always sniff the milk. Always... even if you just had a glass 10 minutes ago. You never know when that stuff will "turn" on you.
