Love Is A Many Splendard Thing...

i want to tell you a story about a couple who were so in love, all they wanted on this earth was to become parents. they tried and tried until they finally were told by their doctor that they would never be able to conceive due to medical reasons unimportant to this story. they prayed for a long time and decided that it no longer mattered HOW they became parents, just that they DID. they applied for and went through the process of adopting a baby. it took over 2 years to get through all the paperwork, interviews, and meetings. what it basically boiled down to is they had to explain why they wanted to be parents, and then prove why they deserved a baby through adoption. by the time they completed everything, the agency knew everything about this couple. they were accepted as prospective parents, and began the wait. the wife prayed every single night for god to protect and bless their birth mother, who ever she was going to be, as she made blankets and such for the baby they hoped to have. together the parents designed and built by hand, the whole nursery. the couple both felt that god had his loving hands around her as she grew the baby they would soon call theirs. then it happened. exactly 9 months and 2 days from the day they received their acceptance letter, their son was born. and he was born the day after the father's own birthday. their dream came true and they had been blessed. the couple met their son when he was 4 days old, took him home and began the most perfect life, the 3 of them. the birth mother and the couple kept in touch via the agency, sending letters and pictures for the first 3 years. they developed a very special relationship, and the wife knew in her heart that she would meet this woman someday. when the boy was nearly 4, the birth mother stopped writing. she needed to go on with her life. and it was OK, as she felt her baby was loved and so wanted. the couple, specially the wife, felt such gratitude and love for the birth mother... who could have chosen to abort her baby, specially in the situation to which he was conceived. but she didn't. she loved her baby enough to give him life, and let someone else have the pleasure of being his parents, as she could not. it was a decision that was the hardest one she ever had to make in her whole life. the couple felt only love for this woman, who full filled their dream, and gave them the greatest gift one could give in this world.... the gift of life. the son always knew he had been adopted, and was always told by his parents they would stand by him and help him, if he ever wanted to look up his birth mother. 23 years later, under meant to be circumstances which were initiated by the son, he contacted her by sending her a Christmas card. that was Christmas 2007. a few months later they met, then several months later than that, she met the woman who raised him as her own. today, they are all part of the same family. and the son has 2 very special moms.... one who brought him into the world, and one who raised him. he has so much love in his life, and he deserves it. he is so beautiful inside and out.

i would like to introduce you to Nicholas & Terri,
my oldest son and my very own
special birth mother/friend/sistah.
we are family now, all of us...
forever and always.
i love her.

Your son is a freakin' HOTTIE!!! (yes, I know that's totally inappropriate, and I'm sorry. But, hell, look at him!)

What a beautiful story! I'm so glad it all worked out the way it did. I've heard so many sad stories that haven't turned out like yours. You truly are blessed!

Thanks for coming by. Yes, yes, this is all so true. And, I have a birthmother who tries her best to hold it together when my oldest needs her - still so painful for her 18 years later (he too is about to graduate) and a birthFATHER of the twins, who desperately wants to be something to them, despite his lifetime of bad choices. It's all so convoluted, but it's normal for them - they grew up knowing they had a million people loving them and caring about them close by and from afar. But, to me, they are so much more. They've never been a threat or something to fear. My kids were raised to hold lots of people in their hearts.
