i know some of you wanted to know how Christopher's birthday party went today. i am happy to report that it was really nice and turned out well. i had what i thought was a good idea early this morning. i had alot of shopping to get done, and i brought him with me. then, i took him to our local tattoo/piercing parlor.... and i asked the gal if she had any lip rings that he could wear without getting his lip pierced and you should have seen his face! he was just beside himself. i explained to him that i wanted him to wear a fake one, and see if even he liked it, and if he could still manage everything with a ring in his lip... [he plays the bassoon] he agreed. [my secret plot was that he would tire of it and not want one any longer] it looked so real that it was freaking me out.... as everyone arrived, they all thought it was real, and some liked it, some boohooed it, and 2 people, my daughter and her husband got really pissed off at me for letting him do it, and said it looked stupid. they hurt his feelings. what's a family party without a lil palaver as entertainment. all the food came out yummy, everyone enjoyed that. we sat around talking, then watched a movie, all of us. everyone left by 10:30 pm. then we talked some more, he and i... and i told him how much i loved him, and that he can now look forward to Monday, the 13th, his real b-day. i always spend each of my kids b-days with just them and i, and we go do something fun. he is looking forward to that now. i must say, it was a really nice evening. we were going to eat outside on the deck as it was 66 degrees today, but it got chilly so we ate indoors. tomorrow, my oldest son will come over with a friend, and we will have Easter dinner together. their dad hasn't even called to invite the boys over for Easter... or to acknowledge Christopher's birthday. we'll see if he even calls on Monday. i am really all the kids have had for a parent in the last 17 years. pitiful that they have a father in town who takes no initiative to maintain or build a relationship with his children. it's so sad. i ache for them.... as i didn't have my dad once i was 4-5 years old, and not very much before that, either. as their mom, i feel the pain from both sides now. [an old song]
but, they DO have moi. and i will ALWAYS be there for them.

Even if their dad was on the other side of the world, he should still be there for his children... Sorry, but what a SHIT he is, I want to slap him on the side of the head "wtf do you think you're doing, ass!!"

Just a sore point with me. Sorry for ranting...

You're the best mom ever though, so that makes up for it. :-)

Ah, Joni Mitchell, great song indeed.

Happy official birthday to your son, he's very lucky to have you as his mother and I'm sure he knows it. :)
