AUBURN, Ala. – “Auburn University says someone deliberately poisoned trees at Toomer's Corner, where fans have long celebrated big wins and hundreds gathered after the Tigers won the football national championship on Jan. 10. The university said in a statement Wednesday that a herbicide commonly used to kill trees was applied "in lethal amounts" to the soil around the two trees, and they likely can't be saved. Harvey Almorn Updyke Jr. was charged with one count of first-degree criminal mischief, Auburn Police Chief Tommy Dawson said. Bond was set at $50,000, and Updyke faces one to 10 years in prison if convicted”. [source].

Steaming mad..now I have heard it all. what kind of sad bastard would poison historical oak trees as revenge against another football team playing against his?

Steaming madwe lived in Ozark, Ala. for 4 years when i first married.. I took a class at Auburn University which was about 30 mins away. it was a beautiful campus in a quaint little southern town.

Steaming madeveryone was super friendly and you just felt welcomed there. the trees this sicko poisoned are 130 years old, standing proudly reaching for the sky and standing strong during tornado winds. always providing shade and beauty to their surroundings.

Steaming madthe town’s people are mourning the loss by setting up memorial signs and personally written notes around them, as I’m sure those trees have witnessed many a touching moment throughout their years.

Steaming madthis makes me so sad. what a SickMoFoAssHoleTreeKilling Bastard. may the fleas of 1,000 camels infest his groin..

C, this has been BIG news here, as Auburn is a just a hop, skip and jump away from Atlanta (and lots of Auburn alums live in Atlanta). I think it's safe to say that if the inbred ass-wipe who DID this is CAUGHT by the Auburn Nation, he will probably "disappear" before he can stand trial. BUT if he does stick around long enough to stand trial, he can (and probably will) be sentenced to a max of 10 years.

And yes, he is sick and filled with Hate and Venom. Evil, evil, evil.

Makes me sick. We are loyal Gator fans, and Auburn is one of our rivals. But believe me we take no pleasure from this. It does not honor your team to do something so horrible to a rival team, it DISGRACES your team.
