the rain, the park, and other things...

tonight Diane and i went for a ride in our new vehicle. the sky was clear as a bell and we could see a full moon staring down at us as we drove. we were out in the country where the only lights are those of the headlights on the car. suddenly, it seemed out of no where, we began to see flashes of lightening. as the flashes lit up the night sky, we could see the shape and outline of a tremendously large cloud, situated right next to the full moon in the clear night sky! to us they seemed just inches apart but it could have been miles. we pulled over into an empty parking lot, turned the car off and watched the storm roll in. we could not hear any thunder, but the light show was unbelievably awesome. the rest of the sky was clear and lit up by the full moon, yet adjacent to it was this cloud full of energy and lightening. some bolts were huge and hit the ground somewhere. at times the lightening struck so often it looked like a strobe light show. we just sat there for probably an hour, watching the silent storm dance before our eyes. we didn't speak, there was no need. an occasional gasp at the incredible beauty of the storm was the only sound. our minds wandered, I'm sure each in different directions, cuz how can you witness such beauty without it leading your mind down memory lane or of future times yet to come... watching this storm full filled whatever need we had to begin with that made us go for a drive tonight. it was calming, comforting, soothing, and very peaceful. it made us forget the rest of the world for a little while. and now it's a memory in our minds that we can keep forever. i hope every one of you out there will experience something this awesome at some point... and just think, it's free.
